This week, will focus on the Civil Rights Era, what events in American History led to it and how it began to change America.
Monday June 8th: We will be looking back to the Reconstruction Era, the time period after the Civil War, and review how the abolishment of slavery changed America. This is a review of what we learned in September of the School year. This will also set the stage for the beginning of the Civil Rights Era.

Tuesday June 9th: Today we will focus on the Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court Trial, and on Non Violent Protest. Read through the PowerPoint and Watch the coordinating videos, and complete the reading and worksheet.
Wednesday June 10th: Today will focus on the significance of the Freedom Rides, protests in Birmingham, March on Washington and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. You will view the PowerPoint slide show to read, view the notes and watch the attached video clips. After viewing that you will be reading excerpts from Martin Luther King Jr's I Have a Dream Speech, and answer the analysis questions.
Thursday June 11th: Today will focus on the significance of the "Freedom Summer" and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. View the attached PowerPoint slide show to view primary source photos, readings and videos, when completed read and analyze the primary source Freedom Summer document and answer the questions.
Friday June 11th: Today will focus on the concept of DeFacto Segregation, and identifying the successes and unfinished business of the Civil Rights Movement by analyzing primary source documents (education & unemployment graphs.) First view the presentation with videos, notes and photographs, than complete Successes of the Civil Rights Movement Activity.
